The 2014 CrossFit Games Open
Woah, it’s almost here! If you haven’t signed up yet, click this link and DOOOOO IIIIITTTTT!!!
The 1st workout will be released Thursday, February 27th. For those who do not know, the Open is a worldwide CrossFit competition consisting of 5 workouts over 5 weeks.
After each workout you will submit your score online and be able to see how you rank among every other CrossFitter in the world that signed up and submitted a score. You can also sort by age, region & CrossFit experience, which adds another great reason to give it a shot.
For those still on the fence because you aren’t sure you’ll be able to do the workouts, check out the ones from last year by clicking here. You’ll see that the beginning stages of each WOD are written so that everyone that signs up will be able to participate.
If you HAVE signed up for The Open, you will need to perform the workout in front of a judge so that we can validate your score. We will be performing all our judged Open workouts during our “Friday Night Lights” event each week between 5:30 pm and 7:30 pm. This event will be not just for those that need judges, but for our entire community to come together and show support for our athletes.
We will have a sign up sheet on the front desk each week for those that need judges. You will need to sign up for the 5:30-6:30 pm hour or the 6:30-7:30 pm hour. We will then make sure we have enough judges and will organize heats so that all athletes can complete the required workouts.
Below is a timeline of how The Open will work:
- Thursday 5:00pm – Workout Release
- Thursday 10:00pm – Heat times Google Doc Released
- Friday 1:00pm – Coach Dave will blog about workout strategy
- Friday 5:30pm – Friday Night Lights starts – competitors are expected to arrive at the top of the hour (AT THE LATEST) for warm up and their heat
- Monday 5:00pm – Scores due (you must submit your own score each week, Coach Dave will then validate it online)
If you have signed up for The Open and this time table will not work for you during one of the weeks, it is your responsibility to get in contact with us as soon as possible to schedule a different time for judging your workout.
For those not planning to compete, we still want you to attend and cheer your fellow members on. Please feel free to bring snacks and beverages of your choice to share with fellow non-competitors and competitors following the completion of their workout.
We are looking forward to hosting 5 consecutive community Fridays and are excited to see how great each and every one of our competitors can be.
