Doug H. Is Our May Member Of The Month

At the beginning of this year Doug joined Cróga and although he did some gymnastics as a kid and had some CrossFit experience, he was a little rough around the edges as an athlete. It became apparent very quickly that he was very motivated to change this and that he was going to go the extra mile to progress quickly. He began attending class 5 to 6 days a week, then he started staying 1-2 hours after class to work on his weaknesses and to do additional workouts.

All of this hard work and his ability to listen, think through what the coach has told him and then execute have turned him into a much more polished and well rounded athlete in a very short period of time.

It has been a pleasure coaching you up to this point, Doug. We’re excited to have a few more months with you before you head off to University of Oregon for your freshman year. Congratulations on all the progress you’ve made so far and being the member of the month, you deserve it!

Here is a little Q&A with Doug about his experiences here at Cróga:

(Coach Dave): When did you join Cróga?

(Doug): I started Cróga February of 2015 after leaving Moxie.

(CD): What were you doing before for fitness?

(D): Before CrossFit I was just being one of those wannabes at the gym, thinking they know what they are doing but actually don’t.

(CD): What improvements have you seen in the way you look, feel and perform?

(D): Believe it or not I still feel the same, abominable, and still don’t understand why I keep coming back. Just kidding, I feel healthier and have energy that doesn’t even show.

(CD): What’s your favorite WOD?

(D): My favorite WOD would have to be anything with body weight, handstand push ups, pull ups, toes to bar, muscle ups(thanks to Dave for showing me how to link them), etc.

(CD): What’s your least favorite WOD?

(D): Pretty much any WOD that has heavy weight.

(CD): What do you love about CrossFit?

(D): The thing I love about CrossFit is the community and how supportive everyone is. Also all of the movements that we do, it allows me to get uncomfortable and lift heavy things.

(CD): What’s been your favorite culinary discovery since joining Cróga?

(D): My favorite culinary discovery is I guess the grab-a-pita place, due to Anthony for telling me how crazy good it is.

(CD): What’s your biggest fitness goal for 2015?

(D): My biggest fitness goal of 2015 is to do all of the WODs at the RX weight. Hopefully I’m getting closer?

(CD): What words of advice do you have for new members or people considering joining Cróga CrossFit?

(D): “Just do it.” -Nike

(CD): 20,000 thrusters or 20,000 sumo deadlift high pulls?

(D): I am leaning towards the sumo deadlift high pulls.

(CD): Anything to add that we didn’t touch on yet?

(D): I just want to thank everyone for all the support. I also want to give a special thanks to Dave and Anthony for giving me stuff to work on, pushing me, not letting me sandbag, and most of all allowing me to see my full potential.
