Sat 8/2/14:
Slept 8 hours last night and feel pretty tight today from the last 2 days of hard training.

Had a good day of training, had some trouble with 100% concentration during all the rest times, but I really got after it during the 2 short sprints at the end.

A. HB Back Squat – build to 1RM; rest as needed
This one went really well and I don’t think I’ve felt this good squatting in at least 6 months. My legs just felt strong and I felt unstoppable. I made an easy 315, easy 345 (previous PR), pretty smooth 365 (small struggle, but not much), then I went for 385 twice and missed both, then backed off to 375 and missed that one also. I’ll take smaller jumps at the top end next time. Videos are below:

B. Shoulder Press – build to 1RM; rest as needed
This was ok. Shoulders were still feeling kind of fatigued after all the snatching and 100 HSPUs on Thursday. I made 165, 175, but couldn’t move 180, which was my previous PR. Videos are below:

C1. Wtd. Pull-up Build to 1RM; rest as needed
This was ok, I made 110 lbs, which is my previous PR and was about 1 inch from making 115, but I couldn’t close that final bit to count it. Videos are below:

C2. Seated Bnk Press – build to 1RM; rest as needed
This was pretty good, I made 150, which was a 5 lb PR. I missed 155 twice, tried with the same grip I usually use and missed, then tried with a wider grip and missed again, I think the narrower grip is better. Videos below:

This was hard, but good. My hands were beat up so I decided to use my rocktape gloves, but I think this was a problem because I can’t lock in the hook grip with them on. Because of this the limiting factor was definitely my grip and forearms. My times were 3:21 & 3:22. I had to break up the sets of 12 cleans & 9 cleans because I couldn’t hold onto the bar. I think I could go unbroken with my hands in better shape and I didn’t use the gloves. Videos are below:
