DWM Sat 8/30/14

Sat 8/30/14:
I was feeling a little worn down this day and didn’t end up working out until the afternoon. Once I got to the gym I was able to get myself pumped up for the workout.

This was one of the most focused, intense and all our effort workouts I’ve had, but as you’ll see below, something went wrong right at the end. Not quite sure what caused it, but it’s now Tuesday and I feel normal.

A. Squat Clean – 15min of tech work building up to 225#
Nothing major to report here, I’m feeling the bar a lot better, keeping it in closer instead of getting that big bang at my hips and off my quads and it’s making the reciving of the bar a lot easier. I took a little video here are a few weights, it’s below:

B. Front Squat w/ bands – 8 x 2; rest 90sec (185# + tough bands, be explosive)
These were all good once I found my balance. Nothing major to report here. Video below:

This one was interesting. I did really well on the first round 5:31, I was pretty crushed after, kinda like Fran, but I figured that after a 10 minute rest I’d be ok. Well, when 10 minutes hit, I was still breathing hard, but I thought I could get it done, just a little slower. I went for singles on the cleans and they were difficult, but I got them done. Then the pull-ups came. I started to get dizzy, felt like I couldn’t really breathe at all. I did these 3-7-5-5 with a lot of rest. Then I changed the weights to go down to 155 and that’s when I thought I was going to puke. I was extremely dizzy, my stomach was in knots, my throat was really dry, it was hard to breathe and I all of a sudden had a headache. I laid on the ground for a minute or two, then got some water, then went outside and nearly puked. I was gagging, but nothing came up. I decided to just shut it down. I have no idea what caused this, but I’ve never puked from a workout, so this was pretty weird. I was kinda screwed up the rest of the day, but I took it easy and then felt better the next day and did well in the workout on Monday, so I guess this was just a fluke thing.
