Exciting Coaching Updates at Cróga
Despite the heat we’ve been feeling this week, the official end of summer is just around the corner and we have created some lasting memories the last few months at Cróga. We had another successful Beach WOD, had two teams compete at Moxie Madness with huge community support, we enjoyed a great family event with our Backyard BBQ at Sam & Pareesa’s house and we welcomed new members that add to our wonderful community. We’ve seen a lot of new friendships blossom from our great community events and we’re looking forward to continuing the same going into fall with The Whole30 & our Barbells for Boobs fundraiser in October, Cróga Thanksgiving in November and the now world-famous Cróga Ugly Christmas Sweater Row-ling tournament in December.
In addition to all of this, we are very excited to make a few announcements.
First, we are excited to announce that Diana will be joining our coaching staff, supporting a wide range of class times, which means all of you should have the chance to take her class. She brings with her a solid background in CrossFit, Olympic Lifting and Personal Training. Previously, Diana and her husband owned a CrossFit box in Washington – as such, she has experience with classes of all sizes and athletes of all ability levels, which make her a great fit for us at Cróga! Please join me in extending a warm welcome to Diana and be sure to share with her what you love about Cróga when you get to meet her.
But, wait – there’s more! Many of you may have recently seen a tall, friendly, redheaded guy named Charlie spending a lot of time training at the gym. Charlie recently moved to San Jose for a job with the San Jose Sharks. Charlie has extensive CrossFit training and coaching experience from multiple gyms on the east coast including downtown New York City. In between working for the Sharks, Charlie will be coaching a few classes a week. I encourage you to take advantage by learning from his unique athletic background (college and minor league hockey and now works for a pro sports team)…You don’t meet people like him every day! Welcome on board, Charlie!
Next, we are thrilled to launch our internship program for internal coaching development. During the next few months, there will be a few familiar faces shadowing/assisting our coaches during class, and eventually, they will become members of our coaching staff as well after successfully completing the program. Stay tuned for more details.
Finally, we have some bittersweet news to share: Coach Anthony will be leaving Cróga at the end of September. He has accepted a new opportunity at NorCal CrossFit and we are very excited for him. As you all know, Anthony has been a huge part of our community and has been a great friend since the day we met him and decided to bring him on to our staff. Without him, Cróga wouldn’t be the place it is today, and he has helped many of our athletes blossom physically and emotionally with his unique coaching methods and attitude. Anthony will be working at Cróga through September 27th and you may see him around from time to time after that when we need a class covered and he is available. Please be sure to give him a high-five and say thank you the next time you see him. We will miss you Anthony, but wish you all the luck in the world as your journey continues!
