The more time we spend with Erika, the more we get to see how hard working and self-motivated she is, two very important traits for a successful individual and CrossFitter. Since day 1, Erika has been curious about how she can speed up the learning curve and no matter what we tell her or ask of her, she does it.
Just last week she told Coach Anthony that every morning when she wakes up she does 50 air squats, 50 push ups & 50 sit ups before she does anything else. After about a month she also decided she wanted to improve her running, so she started waking up at 5 am so she could run a couple mornings a week before work.
On top of all this extra work, she started as a 3x/week member and upgraded to unlimited so that she could come to as many classes as possible a week. She was one of our most consistent athletes in the month of June and she made A TON of improvement in all areas. We’re proud of you, Erika, keep up the good work, you’re doing fantastic!
Here is a Q&A with Erika about her experiences here at Cróga CrossFit:
(Dave): When did you join Cróga?
(Erika): I joined Cróga June of this year.
(D): What were you doing before for fitness?
(E): A lot of procrastination work outs! Yoga every once in a while.
(D): What improvements have you seen in the way you look, feel and perform?
(E): I am mentally and physically stronger. I have done WOD’s that have left me sore…very sore, and I have the energy to still come back for more the next day. My legs and arms are toning up nicely too.
(D): What’s your favorite WOD?
(E): Box jumps, front/back squats, shoulder to over head.
(D): What’s your least favorite WOD?
(E): Anything involving a pull up because I still can’t do one.
(D): What do you love about CrossFit?
(E): I like the challenge. There have been days where I’m soaking in sweat, my body is shaking and I feel like I can’t get up but I mentally push my body to keep going. Looking back at where you started and the strength you have now is a very powerful feeling.
(D): What’s been your favorite culinary discovery since joining Cróga?
(E): The Whole30. I am not completely whole yet but I am more conscious of what I eat.
(D): What’s your biggest fitness goal for 2015?
(E): Transform my body inside and out, be a motivation for my family and friends to do the same.
(D): What words of advice do you have for new members or people considering joining Cróga CrossFit?
(E): When you have a goal surround yourself with people that will help you reach it. You will not find a more positive, encouraging and driven community then Cróga.
(D): 20,000 box jumps or 20,000 double unders?
(E): 20,000 box jumps
(D): Anything to add that we didn’t touch on yet?
(E): I want to thank all the coaches for always motivating and pushing me. The community is simply the cherry on top, you guys are awesome! Thank you!
