As some of you may know, Coach Kelly has signed up for the Mermaid Triathlon in Capitola, which is an all women’s triathlon/duathlon that is going to take place on Sunday, October 6th.
With the event about 6 weeks away and a hurt finger that restricts her from picking many things up, she has kicked her monostructural (cardio) training into high gear and it has really inspired us to “get out there” and do some things we haven’t done in awhile.
Kelly and her friend Liz, Rusty’s girlfriend, hit the San Jose State pool on Saturday morning for some swim practice.
Then, on Sunday, Kelly and I took our bikes on a nice 6 mile ride up the Los Gatos Creek Trail to Downtown Los Gatos for lunch and a lazy afternoon and then rode home a few hours later.
For those of you that are unfamiliar, the Los Gatos Creek Trail runs from Meridian Avenue (the entrance is down closer to 280 from the gym) all the way to the Lexington Reservoir just past Downtown Los Gatos.
The weather was beautiful all weekend and I couldn’t think of a better way to enjoy it than with a mellow ride while enjoying the scenery and getting some exercise at the same time.
On the way home during the ride through Vasona Park I made Kelly stop and take a photo in front of the ducks. Here it is!
