Pareesa R. Is Our April Member Of The Month

When I think back on Pareesa’s CrossFit journey I instantly picture a series of milestones. This same thing can be said for a lot of CrossFitters, but for some reason memories of Pareesa obtaining new skills or hitting significant numbers on her lifts tend to stick with me. Maybe it’s her relaxed and calm nature or her friendliness and selflessness, but it seems like every time I turn around she’s done something new that she couldn’t do a month or two before and she nonchalantly says “I just did a toes-to-bar” and then I get super excited and make her do it again because I missed the first one, haha. Pareesa is very dedicated to getting better everyday and we are very happy to have her and to be able to watch her consistently evolve as an athlete. Keep up the hard work Pareesa, we’re excited to see what skill you decide to tackle next!

Here is a little Q&A with Pareesa about her experiences here at Cróga CrossFit:

(Dave): When did you join Cróga?

(Pareesa): I signed Sam up about 2 years ago, we were walking Roxy and saw the sign for a new gym in our neighborhood. We heard all the rage about CrossFit so I told Sam I’d do the start up classes with him. I knew he would love it so I could just quit once he got comfortable. And here I am 2 years later…totally hooked.

(D): What were you doing before for fitness?

(P): Besides the occasional hikes, I did PureBarre for awhile but got bored and refused to sign up at a gym.

(D): What improvements have you seen in the way you look, feel, and perform?

(P): I have never felt so strong and seen myself grow in any kind of workout like CrossFit. I constantly push myself (with the help of the coaches) to keep improving in all of the skills. From Day 1 I couldn’t do much from box jumps, toes to bar, double unders, barely lift weights and here I am doing them all and lifting triple digits which seems crazy to me.

(D): What’s your favorite WOD?

(P): Rowing and anything with squats…front, back, overhead.

(D): What’s your least favorite WOD?

(P): Toes to bar…kills me every time.

(D): What do you love about CrossFit?

(P): Honestly I don’t think I’d love CrossFit if it wasn’t for Cróga. Not only are Dave, Kelly and Anthony amazing coaches, they are good people. The community of friends that I have made is what keeps me going. I’ve met some damn good people here.

(D): What’s been your favorite culinary discovery since joining Cróga?

(P): It’s all about the paleo. Sam and I did the whole 30 and do our best to keep it up.

(D): What is your biggest fitness goal for 2015?

(P): I’ve been trying to go at least 4-5 days a week so I get the variety of workouts that are programmed and that has helped me improve so I’m sticking to it.

(D): What words of advice do you have for new members or people considering joining Cróga CrossFit?

(P): Do it!!! Not only is it a great variety of workouts everyday, great for any age or skill level, we have awesome coaches and a lot of really cool members. Nothing else compares.

(D): 20,000 box jumps or 20,000 double unders?

(P): Despite me eating sh*t on my first attempt at a 24″ box jump I’d choose box jumps.

(D): Anything to add that we didn’t touch on yet?

(P): I just want to thank all the Coaches, especially Dave and Anthony for always pushing me and reminding me that I’m stronger than I think I am. A huge thank you to all the members that do the same and have created such a great community at Cróga. Oh and that one guy Sam with the beard at the gym…Thank you for always motivating me and making me go every morning even when I don’t want to.
